Text-To-Speech bar (Text-To-Speech)

The Text-to-Speech panel converts the text in fields #3 and #4 to speech.

The Text-to-Speech toolbar will help you practice your listening skills, especially in the beginning stages when it's difficult to understand foreign speech.

When field #3 (or #4) contains multiple words of the same language, Google TTS will automatically detect the language. However, it's always best to set language settings manually.

Voice selection

Most available languages have a default voice pre-installed. If you want to add a different voice, open the list of voice packs and select a different voice. If you're selecting a voice for the first time, you'll need to download a language pack.

Reading speed

When learning a language, you'll likely first want to adjust your reading speed. For our native language, we typically set it to 0.8 of the default speed. For the language we're studying, we set it to 0.4-0.6, depending on the complexity of the material.

Spacing of reading

If you have difficulty understanding the sound of some words or phrases at 0.4 speed, you can increase the intervals between words.

Voice pitch

If you wish, you can adjust the timbre of the selected voice.
